I bought this mold to shoot cast bullets in the .38-55.
This mold required no "Leementing". Unlike other
reports, I fuond this mold to work perfectly right out
of the box. ( After a serious scrubbing with brake
cleaner, and a tooth brush. )
I poured about 300 each bottom pour bullets using both
cavities and another 300 using only cavity one and a
As expected, the ladle poured bullets were slightly
more uniform than the bottom poured.
Diameter as cast from clip on wheel weights is .3796
Weight averages 252 gr. Normal weight range of about 251
to 254 gr.
These were sized with the Lyman 4500 lubrisizer. I was
not able to try Lee Liquid Alox because for some strange
reason, Lee does not offer a sizing die for this bullet.
After a little load development and experimentation with
seating depth and crimp. these bullets shoot very well
